On March 10, AFCEA Atlanta will host Vanguard Shield, an interactive tabletop exercise that brings together leaders from federal, state, and local government along with industry partners to collaborate on responding to threats against critical infrastructure. Vanguard Shield focuses on strengthening cybersecurity preparedness by examining how disruptive events affecting critical infrastructure would be managed. Each year?s scenario is different, but typically centers on a major triggering event that unfolds over multiple phases. Participants assess cascading impacts across various sectors, including at least two of the sixteen Critical Infrastructure sectors identified by DHS CISA. The simulated threats reflect today?s evolving risk landscape and may involve state-sponsored actors, espionage, hacktivism, ransomware attacks, or insider threats?often drawing inspiration from recent real-world incidents.
