ABOUT THE EVENT

Intellectual property is defined as creations of the mind, such as inventions; literary and artistic works; designs; and symbols, names and images used in commerce. There are many types of intellectual property including copyrights, patents, trademarks, and trade secrets. The main purpose of intellectual property law is to encourage the creation of a variety of intellectual goods. To achieve this, the law gives people and businesses property rights to the information and intellectual goods they create, usually for a limited period of time. The purpose of this workshop is to provide clarity about the types of intellectual property, how to use the laws to protect your ideas and inventions and outline resources available to you locally to help with this important area of managing your business assets.
